Chef Javan
Chef Javan grew up in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, but was actually born oversees in Japan. He has resided in York, PA since 2015 with his wife and 3 kids. He has worked as our Executive Chef at YCDS since 2022 and brings 23+ years of culinary knowledge to the school. He graduated from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI with degrees in Culinary Arts and Food Service Entrepreneurship. Chef Javan's favorite foods to cook (and eat!) are BBQ and international side dishes. His favorite part of the job is "working with the students as they develop positive relationships with food and explore new food items." He also enjoys getting to cultivate positive self-confidence in the students and helping individuals with allergies to feel safe eating with the group. Outside of work, Javan loves being active, spending time outdoors, and traveling - he even worked in Luxembourg for some time at a Michelin Star restaurant!
